Washington: Oman and the United States of America have discussed ways to strengthen military cooperation and enhance bilateral defence coordination as part of the longstanding partnership between the two countries.
The discussions took place during the 18th meeting of the Omani-American Joint Military Committee in Washington.
The Omani delegation was headed by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Zaabi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, who is currently on an official visit to the United States.

The US side was headed by His Excellency Michael DeMino, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East Affairs.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed a number of items on the agenda and explored ways to strengthen existing areas of military cooperation and develop them further in support of shared interests.
They also discussed measures to enhance mutual defence coordination between Oman and the United States.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Talal bin Sulaiman Al Rahbi, Oman’s Ambassador to the United States, along with a number of senior officers and officials from both countries.
On the sidelines of the meeting, H.E. Dr. Al-Zaabi held talks with several senior officials from the US Departments of Defense and State.
The discussions focused on bilateral relations, opportunities to expand cooperation and a number of issues of mutual interest.
As part of his official visit, the Secretary General also travelled to the US state of Arizona, where he met with state officials.
