MUSCAT: Oman’s Consulate General in Mumbai has urged Omani citizens travelling to India, particularly students, to ensure they have comprehensive health insurance covering the full duration of their stay.

The advisory, issued on September 12, comes amid an increase in cases requiring medical care and hospital treatment, the consulate said.

It warned that treatment costs can be high, particularly in cases requiring intensive care, potentially leaving individuals with significant and unexpected financial expenses.

The consulate said insurance policies should provide coverage for treatment following accidents and emergencies, as well as medicines and medical evacuation when required.

Omani students were specifically advised to ensure they have appropriate health insurance covering their stay in India to safeguard their health and avoid unexpected financial burdens.

The advisory comes as India remains a major destination for Omanis seeking medical treatment and pursuing higher education.
