MUSCAT: The committee held its third meeting under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mohammed bin Said Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information and Chairman of the Main Committee.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed the progress of the competition’s electronic evaluation process, which marks a significant development in the competition’s history. Entries were received through digital forms before being organised and presented electronically to judging panels for assessment.
The committee also reviewed preparations for activities accompanying the competition, including a workshop on television scriptwriting and a lecture focusing on creativity and innovation in the age of artificial intelligence.

Discussions also covered preparations for the competition’s closing ceremony, which is scheduled to take place in October.
The Ministry of Information opened nominations for the 2026 Media Excellence Competition on May 6, with participation covering journalism, radio and television, and electronic media. The competition targets media institutions, media professionals and enthusiasts, media students at academic institutions, and media content creators.
The competition seeks to encourage Omani talent to pursue creativity and innovation in the media sector, enhance professional standards across media institutions, highlight national media talent and recognise their achievements.
It also aims to strengthen the role of national media as an active partner in supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The 2026 edition covers print journalism, radio, television and digital media.
