MUSCAT — His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Monday issued a royal decree ordering the merger of the Sultanate’s education ministries, in a move aimed at unifying policy and administration across the sector.
Royal Decree No. 14/2026 stipulates the integration of the Ministry of Education with the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation into a single entity to be known as the Ministry of Education, state media reported.
The restructuring is intended to enhance coordination and continuity across all stages of education, from general schooling to higher education, research and innovation.
