MUSCAT — His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued a royal appointment naming Engineer Ahmed bin Said Al Amry as Chairman of Muscat Municipality.
Al Amry, who previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Oman Airports, assumes the role at a time when the capital is advancing major urban development, infrastructure modernisation and quality-of-life initiatives aligned with national priorities.
During his tenure at Oman Airports, Al Amry oversaw airport operations and development projects, including initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, passenger experience and operational performance at Muscat International Airport and other aviation facilities across the sultanate.

He also brings deep experience from the energy sector. As Vice President of Project Delivery at OQ, Al Amry oversaw the execution of several major oil and gas projects, managing complex, large-scale developments. Earlier in his career, he led and delivered major technical and operational projects at Oman LNG and Qalhat LNG, building expertise in industrial operations and project execution.
In addition to his project delivery roles, Al Amry has held a number of senior transformation and commercial leadership positions. These include serving as Chief Transformation Officer at Oman Air and Oman Airports, as well as Acting Chief of the Commercial Operations Unit at Oman Airports, where he was involved in operational restructuring and performance improvement.
Al Amry holds a Master’s degree in International Construction Management and Engineering from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, in addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Bradford.
