This landmark creation is the first full-scale operatic production conceived as an authentic ‘Arab opera’, honoring Oman’s cultural heritage while reimagining one of the Arab world’s most beloved legends.
Composed and conducted by Egyptian maestro Hisham Gabr, with an original libretto by acclaimed writer Nader Mohamed Salah El Din, Sindbad transforms the legendary sailor into an Omani hero. His voyage begins and ends in Oman, unfolding across its dramatic coastlines, vast deserts, and majestic mountains, deeply rooted in the nation’s identity.
The production is directed by Csaba Káel, a leading figure in international arts, Intendant of MÜPA Budapest, and founder of the Bartók Spring International Art Week.
