Muscat: According to recent data, Oman’s total electricity production soared to 2,609.3 gigawatts per hour by the end of January 2024, showcasing a substantial rise from 2,287.2 gigawatts per hour during the corresponding period in the previous year. Notably, the governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah contributed significantly to this increase, recording a total production of 1,660.1 gigawatts per hour.

While some regions experienced a slight decline in production, such as Muscat Governorate and Dhofar Governorate, others witnessed remarkable growth. For instance, the North and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates saw a 30.5% increase in total production, reaching 627.9 gigawatts per hour.

Simultaneously, Oman’s net electricity production surged by an impressive 17.7%, reaching 2,608.2 gigawatts per hour by the end of January 2024, showcasing the nation’s commitment to meeting its energy demands efficiently.

In addition to electricity, Oman also saw a rise in water production, which increased by 1.8% to approximately 42 million, 185,700 cubic meters by January 2024, compared to 41 million, 421,600 cubic meters in the same period in 2023.
