MUSCAT : Heavy rains from April 14th to 17th filled or partially filled dams in several governorates, capturing a total of over 179 million cubic meters of water.

Engineer Nasser bin Mohammed Al Battashi, Director General of the Directorate General of Water Resources Assessment at the Ministry, highlighted the successful retention of rainwater in numerous dams.

The Wadi Dayqah Dam in the Wilayat of Quriyat, Muscat Governorate, reached full capacity, holding 100 million cubic meters, while the Wadi Al Sarin dams in Amerat Wilayat, along with other dams in different regions, also retained significant water.

In Al Dhahirah Governorate, Al Salif, Wadi Al Kabir, Surur, and Sudairiyeen dams all saw increases in water storage. All dams in the Mahdha also reported being filled, including Masilik Dam (1.72 million cubic meters).

In North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, the dams in Al Qabil, Al Mudhaibi, and Ibra witnessed substantial water retention. Of particular significance are Qafifa Dam and Wadi Al-Oyoun Dam.

Several dams in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate reached full capacity, including Imti Dam (0.63 million cubic meters) and Al-Mu’aden Dam (2.5 million cubic meters).

In South Al Batinah Governorate, Al-Farra’, Wadi Al-Ma’awal, and Wadi Bani Kharous dams also captured significant volumes of rainwater.

Dams like Al Jizzi (5.4 million cubic meters) and Ahan (2 million cubic meters) in North Al Batinah Governorate saw a rise in water storage.

Sarooj, Sahana, and Khub Al Shamsi dams in Musandam Governorate reported full capacity, while Khasab Dam also captured a good amount of rainwater.
