MUSCAT : Sri Lanka Embassy in Oman facilitates Lalan Rubbers (pvt) Ltd which is the Sri Lanka’s largest gloves manufacturing company, for setting up its re-exporting plant of medical disposable gloves at the Sohar Port Free Zone in Oman. Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman Ameer Ajwad recently visited Sohar Free-zone together with the Lalan’s Chief Executive Officer Manjula Mahadanaarachi and officially presented the project proposal to the Sohar Free-zone Executive Manager Hilal Al Adawi with a view to initiating the project. Lalan’s Oman representative Damith De Alwis made a presentation on the details of the project to the Free-zone authorities. Senior Commercial Officer of the Free-zone Sara Al Bahrani also participated during the meeting. Lalan delegation led by the Ambassador also inspected the plot of land allocated for the Lalan’s gloves re-exportation plant in the Sohar Port Free-zone.

Ambassador Ameer Ajwad stated that Lalan Group would set up its own re-exportation plant of medical disposable gloves which are imported from Sri Lanka, in the Sohar Port Free-zone in order to capitalize on market opportunities in the Sultanate as well as in the region. This is the  first ever Sri Lankan own packing plant together with ETO Facility and Laboratory Unit under one roof, in a free-zone of Oman. The plant would also produce value added surgical gloves as well as industrial gloves, Ambassador added.

Lalan Group which is an 80 year old Sri Lankan family owned conglomerate of 52 companies in 7 sectors employing over 7,500 persons, and conducting business in over 105 countries, is centered around vertically integrated core business of Rubber. They manufacture gloves, mattresses, pillows, rubber bands and so on.
