Muscat: Oman’s national football team arrived in India to play for the 2022 World Cup qualifier.
The Red Warriors received a warm welcome on their arrival in Guwahati ahead of their clash against India on September 5.
The match will be played at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, also known as Sausajai Stadium, in the city.
Oman remain undefeated against India in competitive matches.
The match kicks off India’s FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign, and also the joint-qualification process for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the game, Indian coach Igor Stimac conceded that Oman will start as favourites in their World Cup qualifiers campaign opener.
“Realistically, Qatar and Oman are the favourites in our group. We had never won an official match against either of them. So it’s not going to be easy at all,” he added.
