SALALAH: The number of people who visited the sites of the Land of Frankincense in the Governorate of Dhofar during the first quarter of 2022 reached 17,155, compared to 16,679 visitors in the same period in 2021.

The General Directorate of Heritage and Tourism in the Governorate of Dhofar in its statistics has indicated that the increase in the number of visitors in the first quarter of 2022 was due to the reopening of these sites after they were closed during the months of January and February in 2021 due to the pandemic.
The number of visitors to Al Baleed Archaeological Park and the Museum of Frankincense Land in the first quarter of 2022 reached 8,005 visitors, while the number of Sumhuram Archaeological Park reached 3,911, while the number of visitors to the archaeological site of Shisr or Wubar reached 5,239.

Al Baleed, Sumhuram, Wubar and Wadi Dawkah are registered UNESCO World Heritage sites under the name of the Land of Frankincense sites to promote cultural and archaeological tourism in the Governorate of Dhofar.
