MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs, concluded its participation in the thirtieth meeting of the Committee of Specialists from the Legislation Departments of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, held on 1-2 of this month, via video link.
The Ministry was represented in the meeting by the Senior Counsellor, Dr. Mahmoud bin Ahmed Al-Barashdi – Director General of Legal Affairs.
The meeting discussed the topics referred to the committee by the officials of the legislative departments in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and discussed aspects of cooperation in this regard, and the development of the electronic system for legislation in the countries of the Gulf, in addition to discussing the issue of homogeneity of technical jobs in the departments of legislation, and the development of a unified system that defines the duties entrusted to the their responsibility and the controls for the performance of their tasks and the job guarantees that are decided for them.

This interest is due to the keenness of the Permanent Committee of Legislative Departments Officials in the GCC States to consolidate cooperation frameworks between them in the field of legislation and to exchange expertise and experience in this regard.
The Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs represented the Sultanate of Oman in the meetings of the Standing Committee of Legislative Department Officials in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries because it is the competent authority for legislation in the Sultanate of Oman in light of the competencies entrusted to it in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree No. 88/2020.
