MUSCAT : Indian School Muscat came alive in the resplendent spirit of Onam on 3 October 2026, as staff members and their families gathered to commemorate Kerala’s timeless festival of harvest and harmony. The occasion was graced by Dr. Kiran G. R., President of the School Management Committee; Mr. Krishnendhu S. and Mr. Nidheesh Kumar, Directors of the Board of Directors; Mr. Vinoba M. P., Senior Principal and Education Advisor, Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman and other esteemed members of the School Management Committee; Principal Mr. Rakesh Joshi; Senior Vice Principal – Administration; Vice Principals; Assistant Vice Principals; Department Heads, teachers and staff members.

Bringing together the CSE, Pre-Primary, Primary, Middle, Senior and Administration Departments, the programme unfolded as a vibrant tapestry of heritage. The stirring cadence of Panchavadyam then heralded the proceedings, its resonant rhythms evoking the grandeur and cultural soul of Kerala. The Welcome Address by the Principal, Mr. Rakesh Joshi, set the tone for the programme, followed by his Onam message, which underscored the festival’s enduring values of harmony and camaraderie. Reflecting on the profound significance of Onam, Dr. Kiran G. R. highlighted its cherished ideals of unity and abundance in his address to the gathering.

The cultural extravaganza unfolded as a mesmerising spectacle of music, dance and heritage, with performances by the CSE, Pre-Primary, Primary, Middle, Senior and Administration Departments captivating the gathering. The majestic arrival of King Mahabali added regal splendour to the proceedings, evoking the enduring ideals of equality, prosperity and benevolence. The festive fervour extended to traditional Onam games, filling the gathering with laughter and spirited participation. The programme reached its culinary crescendo with the sumptuous Onam Sadya, an abundant feast that embodied Kerala’s cherished ethos of sharing and togetherness.

As the event drew to a close, the celebration remained a vivid expression of culture and collective joy. The vibrant performances, resounding Panchavadyam, spirited games and traditional Sadya transformed the morning into a cherished celebration of heritage and belonging. The Vote of Thanks by Mr. Saji S. Nair, Senior Vice President – Administration, brought the proceedings to a gracious close, expressing appreciation for the collective efforts that made the occasion memorable. The festivities remained as a radiant reminder that traditions flourish when shared, and that the true essence of Onam lies in the joy of togetherness, the warmth of generosity and the enduring bonds that bring hearts closer.
