MUSCAT : Indian School Muscat celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day in a ceremony marked by national pride and reverence for the country’s cherished freedom. The event was held at the NMPH, which was decorated in the colours and symbols of the nation, and was graced by Dr. Kiran G.R., President, Indian School Muscat Management Committee, members of the School Management Committee, Principal Rakesh Joshi, the Senior Vice-Principal – Administration, Vice-Principals, Assistant Vice-Principals, teachers, students and parents.


The ceremony opened with the Indian National Anthem, followed by a welcome address delivered by Diya Mehnaz, Head Girl of the Senior Section. Dr. Kiran G.R. then read excerpts from the Hon’ble President’s message, reflecting on the nation’s aspirations and its continued progress.
The cultural programme celebrated India’s patriotism and pluralistic heritage. Young performers presented a dance titled ‘Mera Desh Meri Shaan’, portraying the country’s cultural diversity, followed by the school choir’s rendition of ‘Ye Desh Mera, Ye Chaman Mera’, reflecting devotion to the motherland. A tableau paying tribute to the sacrifices of India’s unsung heroes and valiant warriors formed a particularly moving segment of the programme, honouring their legacy and reminding students that this history remains an important part of the nation’s moral inheritance.

The Principal also announced a new initiative by the Board of Directors to provide free coaching for competitive examinations to students across the Indian Schools in Oman, reaffirming the Board’s commitment to expanding access to quality academic support for young aspirants.
The celebrations concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Gurjaap Singh, Head Boy of the Senior Section. The occasion served as more than a ceremonial observance — it reaffirmed the ideals underpinning India’s freedom and inspired the school community to honour the sacrifices that secured independence, while reflecting on its shared responsibility to uphold the values of unity in diversity, democratic ideals, and collective progress.
