Oman’s marriage rate rises to 5.7 in 2025 as divorce rate holds steady

Oman recorded a noticeable increase in its general marriage rate in 2025, climbing to 5.7 per 1,000 people from 4.5 the previous year, while the divorce rate held steady at 1.0, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

MUSCAT: The statistical bulletin outlines the demographic profile of Omani citizens aged 15 and above. A total of 1,039,382 Omanis were registered as married in 2025, with females accounting for 521,712 and males making up 517,670.

The unmarried population stood at 754,328 individuals who have never been married, comprising 413,696 men and 340,632 women.

The NCSI data revealed a significant gender disparity among divorced and widowed citizens. Divorced Omanis totalled 62,890, with women representing a clear majority at 39,484 compared to 23,406 men.
A similar trend was observed in the widowed category, where women totalled 61,132 compared to just 7,678 men, bringing the overall count of widowed Omanis to 68,810.
