Muscat: Indian School Darsait celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on 15th August 2026 in the Senior School Auditorium with immense patriotic fervour, pride and enthusiasm. The President of the School Management Committee, Mr. Shalimar Moideen graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The function was attended by the esteemed members of the School Management Committee, the Principal, Vice Principals, Coordinators, Heads of Departments, teachers, students, parents and well-wishers. The programme was a stirring tribute to India’s unity in diversity, rich cultural heritage and indomitable spirit of patriotism.
The programme commenced with the National Anthem, followed by a warm welcome address by Mast. Aryan Pradeep, Head Boy. The Chief Guest read out excerpts from the address to the nation by the Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. The address highlighted India’s remarkable progress, inclusive development, women’s empowerment, the pivotal role of youth and the importance of national security and called upon citizens to work collectively with renewed determination towards building a prosperous, self-reliant and developed India by 2047, while upholding democratic values, unity and patriotism. The Chief Guest also announced a new academic initiative launched by the Board of Directors to provide free training to students for competitive examinations.

The cultural programme that followed offered a captivating blend of patriotic songs and dances, infusing the celebrations with colour, energy, and vibrancy. A special highlight was the video presentation, ‘80 Years – Celebrating India’, which took the audience on an inspiring journey through the nation’s history-from the sacrifices of its valiant freedom fighters to the remarkable achievements of a modern, progressive India. Each performance struck a chord with the audience, beautifully capturing and reinforcing the enduring spirit of national pride, unity, and patriotism.
The meticulously planned programme seamlessly blended solemnity, creativity and patriotic spirit, leaving a lasting impression on the young minds and hearts of the students. The celebration concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Nakshatra Rajesh, Head Girl.
