MUSCAT : According to details released by the authority, its Al Suwaiq office received a complaint against a ceramic sales company after a consumer purchased tiles under a documented contract that specified delivery conditions, specifications, and a fixed delivery date.

However, the supplier failed to comply with the agreed delivery date stipulated in the contract.

Following the complaint, the authority initiated the necessary legal procedures, opened an investigation report, and summoned the person responsible for the violation. A settlement was subsequently reached, under which the consumer was refunded RO 950 and the contract was cancelled.

The authority noted that the action was taken in accordance with Article 23 of the Consumer Protection Law, which states that suppliers are obligated to provide services properly and in line with their nature, while also guaranteeing the services for a period proportionate to their nature. In cases of breach, suppliers are required to refund the value of the service, compensate for deficiencies, or provide the service again in a proper manner.
