MUSCAT : The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Harib bin Thuwaini bin Shihab Al Said, Advisor at the Diwan of Royal Court.
The new hospital is built on a total land area of 200,000 square metres, with a built-up area of 17,400 square metres. It serves around 20,000 residents, providing primary and secondary healthcare services in line with international standards.

The hospital includes 54 inpatient beds and features outpatient clinics, an emergency unit, an advanced operating theatre, maternity and women’s services, laboratories, radiology, pharmacy, inpatient wards, neonatal care, and a support services building, in addition to electrical and mechanical systems, air conditioning, computer networks, and public facilities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, His Excellency Sulaiman bin Nasser Al Hajji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs, said healthcare is a key priority of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to ensure sustainable health services that enable individuals to lead safe, productive lives socially and economically.
He said Mahout Hospital aligns with the future direction of Oman’s health system, particularly in expanding specialised services through the establishment, upgrading, and replacement of hospitals to improve efficiency at secondary and tertiary levels.
His Excellency Al Hajji added that the project reflects ongoing efforts to implement the Tenth Five-Year Development Plan (2021–2025) and align strategic health sector programmes with national priorities. He noted that Mahout Hospital is a major addition to recent healthcare infrastructure projects, alongside upcoming facilities including Samail, Al Falah, Al Namaa, and Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah.
For his part, Eng. Yousef bin Yaqoub Al Ambuali, Director General of Projects and Engineering Services at the Ministry of Health, said the hospital is part of strategic plans to enhance healthcare efficiency and ensure balanced distribution of services across governorates.
He noted that the hospital strengthens healthcare delivery in Al Wusta Governorate, particularly in geographically dispersed areas, improving emergency response times and access to integrated medical services.
He added that the hospital’s location was carefully selected to serve Mahout and surrounding areas, ensuring easy access via the road network and smooth patient flow. Its design also prioritises operational efficiency through the separation of patient, visitor, and staff pathways to reduce congestion and improve service delivery.
