SUR : Indian School Sur celebrated its 37th Annual Day (Senior) on 13th January 2026 with grandeur and dignity at its newly inaugurated state-of-the-art Multipurpose Hall, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s journey of academic excellence, infrastructural growth, and holistic student development.

The celebration was graced by Mr. Mohammed Ameen Sait, CEO of Sea Pride LLC Sultanate of Oman, and former President of the School Management Committee, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Krishnendhu S, Director, Board of Directors and Director-in-Charge of Indian School Sur, as the Guest of Honour.

Also present on the occasion were key members of the School Management Committee, including Dr. Ramkumar Lakshmi Narayanan, President, Mr. Shabeeb Mohammed, Convenor, and members Dr. Pradeep Kumar A V, Chairperson – Academic & Public Relations Sub-Committee, and Mr. Pramod Velayudhan Nair, Chairperson – Grievance Sub-Committee. The programme was held under the leadership of the Principal, Dr. S. Srinivasan, along with teachers, parents, and students.

The formal programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising the triumph of knowledge and wisdom. The gathering was formally welcomed by the Head Boy, Master Eshant Kumar, following which the Annual Report was presented by Dr. S. Srinivasan, highlighting the school’s academic achievements, co-curricular accomplishments, student success, and infrastructural progress during the academic year 2025–26.

In his address, Mr. Mohammed Ameen Sait, the Chief Guest, expressed his happiness and admiration on witnessing the impressive facilities of the new Multipurpose Hall, remarking that it reflected the standards of top-grade schools in Oman. He acknowledged the collective efforts of the School Management Committee, Principal, teachers, parents, and students in the school’s steady growth and expressed pride in the achievements of Indian School Sur alumni, many of whom occupy responsible positions across the globe. While announcing the Student of the Year Award, he emphasised that all students who competed for the honour were winners and encouraged others to draw inspiration from their dedication and perseverance.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Krishnendhu S, Guest of Honour, appreciated the visible and consistent development of Indian School Sur and acknowledged the contribution of Mr. Mohammed Ameen Sait to the school’s growth. He lauded the commitment of teachers, students, and the School Management Committee and stressed the importance of discipline and determination as core values that define the institution.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony recognised excellence across academics, leadership, co-curricular activities, and service. The prestigious Student of the Year award for the academic year 2025–26 was conferred upon Master Eshant Kumar of Class XII, who received a certificate and a gold coin sponsored by seapride LLC.

Outstanding participation and achievement in co-curricular activities were celebrated through the A+ Awards, while the contribution of external experts was acknowledged during the Felicitation of CCA Judges. The school also recognised the dedicated efforts of teachers through the Felicitation of the CCA Team and House Masters/Mistresses, acknowledging their pivotal role in organising a wide spectrum of activities.

The creative contributors behind the school’s identity were honoured during the Felicitation of the School Anthem Creators, with Dr. Pradeep R V, Academic Supervisor, being recognized for writing the lyrics of the school anthem, and Mr. Unnikrishnan B for composing its music.

A moment of immense pride for the institution was the felicitation of Miss Shivanya Prashanth of Class VII, who achieved a Guinness World Record for the longest duration of roller/inline skating while hula hooping around a hair bun.

The evening also paid tribute to the dedication of teachers through Long Service Awards and 100% Attendance Awards, recognising years of committed service and exemplary professionalism. The much-awaited Best House Awards were announced with Blue House emerging as the Runners-Up and Green House being declared the Overall Champions for the academic year 2025–26.

It was also announced during the programme that Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Muscat, had sponsored eight brand-new computers to Indian School Sur as part of its CSR initiative, strengthening the school’s digital learning infrastructure.

The formal ceremony was followed by a vibrant cultural programme, which began with “Tejomaya”, a visually captivating opening dance that presented a perfect blend of classical dance forms and modern lighting techniques. The performance showcased multiple Indian dance traditions on a single stage, symbolising the harmony of heritage and innovation, and set a powerful tone for the evening. The subsequent performances reflected creativity, social awareness, and cultural diversity, leaving the audience enthralled.

The celebrations concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Head Girl, Ms. Janaki Aneesh, followed by the rendition of the School Anthem, bringing the memorable evening to a dignified close.
