MUSCAT : The Federation outlined the following key responsibilities that trade unions can undertake:
• Educating workers and raising awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and its various forms.
• Monitoring employers’ compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and enforceable decisions.
• Advocating for the inclusion of ethical labour principles in employment contracts.
• Reporting violations and suspected cases of human trafficking in coordination with competent authorities.
This initiative comes within the framework of the ‘Aman’ campaign, a three-month nationwide effort launched by the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking on July 30, coinciding with World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
