Sur: Indian School Sur hosted its 33rd Annual Athletic Meet for the primary section with great enthusiasm on December 5, 2024, at 3:00 PM on the school grounds. The event was a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience, showcasing the school’s dedication to fostering holistic growth among its young learners.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Sami Said Rashid Salim Al Hatrushi Al Uraimi, Head of Scouts and Guides Department, Ministry of Education, South Al Sharqiya, Sultanate of Oman. He was welcomed with a grand Guard of Honour by the Scouts, Guides, and members of the Student Council, followed by a bouquet presentation by Mr. Jami Srinivasa Rao, President of the School Management Committee, as a gesture of gratitude. Other esteemed dignitaries present were Dr. Ramkumar Lakshmi Narayanan, Convenor, School Management Committee; Mrs. Nishreen Basheer, Treasurer; and members Mr. Pradeep Kumar A.V., Advocate Saeed T.P., and Mr. Shabeeb Mohammed, along with the Principal, Dr. S. Srinivasan.

The event began with a soulful prayer song performed by the school choir, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Advocate Saeed T.P., a member of the School Management Committee. This set a positive tone for the day’s proceedings. The flag hoisting ceremony, led by the Chief Guest, symbolized the unity and spirit of the school community. Following this, the Chief Guest officially declared the sports meet open, igniting a wave of excitement among the participants.

A ceremonial torch relay symbolizing passion and perseverance was conducted with great fervor. The torchbearers, Ms. Harshini Mahendran and Mast. Siddharth Pradeep were introduced as exemplary athletes for their outstanding achievements in various sports disciplines. An inspiring oath-taking ceremony, led by Master Siddharth, emphasized the values of fair play, integrity, and sportsmanship, setting the tone for the competitions to follow.

The sporting events commenced with a thrilling 50-meter sprint, showcasing the agility and determination of the young athletes. Students from UKG added charm to the event with their demonstrations of various sports activities, displaying exceptional coordination and discipline. Relay races and mass drills performed by Grades I to IV, including an eye-catching ribbon drill and dumbbell drill, highlighted teamwork and synchronized effort.

The event concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony, where the Chief Guest, along with the dignitaries, presented medals and trophies to the young athletes for their stellar performances. Individual champions from Classes I to IV were announced, bringing immense pride and joy to the winners.

Mast. Aayan Sunil was awarded the individual champion’s trophy in the Class I boys’ category, while Ms. Chaitradri Adda received it in the girls’ category.

Mast. Lezin Muhammed was the individual champion in the Class II boys’ category, and Ms. Krithika A. won in the girls’ category.

Mast. Rufus Blesson Koshy earned the individual champion’s trophy in the Class III boys’ category, while Ms. Khadiza Binte Khalid was the girls’ champion.

Mast. Muhammed Sajjat clinched the individual champion’s trophy in the Class IV boys’ category, with Ms. Naadavi receiving it in the girls’ category.

The Red House was declared the overall champion, claiming the coveted trophy, while the Blue House secured the runners-up position.

The school management expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, Principal, faculty, parents, and students for their invaluable contributions to the success of the event.
