MUSCAT: The Oman embassy in Bangkok has urged citizens and visitors from the Sultanate to take necessary health precautions after Thailand confirmed 25 cases of coronavirus in the country.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Omani embassy encouraged people to make hand sanitizers and masks at to guard against the spread of the new coronavirus.
“The Thailand authorities have raised the levels of preparedness and control to tackle the virus, after the World Health Organization declared it as a health emergency, while confirming that the risk of infection in Thailand is still very limited,” the embassy said on Friday.

“The embassy urges the Omani citizens to take caution and adhere to health instructions and precautionary measures such as wearing masks and avoiding standing or walking in crowded places,” the embassy added.
The first novel coronavirus (nCoV) infection in Thailand was reported on 13 January 2020, making it the first country outside China to report such infection.
Confirmed cases reached 25, including one person in serious condition, by 05 February. Out of the confirmed cases, six are Thai citizens and 19 are of Chinese origin.
