Oman appoints non-resident Ambassador to Tajikistan and ratifies scientific cooperation agreement with CERN

MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Tuesday issued two Royal Decrees concerning a diplomatic appointment and international scientific cooperation.

Under Royal Decree No. 84/2026, His Majesty appointed Ambassador Sayyid Ya’rub bin Qahtan bin Nasser Al Busaidi, the Sultanate of Oman’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, as Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Tajikistan.

The decree expands Ambassador Sayyid Ya’rub’s diplomatic responsibilities while he continues to serve as Oman’s Ambassador to Iran.

His Majesty also issued Royal Decree No. 85/2026, ratifying an International Cooperation Agreement between Oman’s Ministry of Education and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

The agreement focuses on scientific and technical cooperation in the field of high-energy physics, strengthening Oman’s engagement with one of the world’s leading centres for scientific research.

Both Royal Decrees were issued on September 15, 2026.
