Muscat: Programs and initiatives implemented by the Directorate General of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in Al Buraimi Governorate are helping rural women transform household activities into productive ventures that generate sustainable income and contribute to food security.
Engineer Sheikha bint Hamad Al Kindi, Head of the Rural Development Department at the Directorate General, said around 90 rural women are currently registered in productive projects across the governorate.
She added that three projects are currently operating in the agricultural and livestock sectors, with plans to launch further initiatives in different wilayats of Al Buraimi Governorate in the coming period.

According to Al Kindi, support for rural women covers several key areas, including food processing, goat and sheep rearing, poultry farming using modern methods, beekeeping and home-based agriculture.
The directorate also provides beneficiaries with technical assistance and a range of support services, including field follow-up and specialised training workshops in project management, packaging, as well as traditional and digital marketing.
These initiatives are also aimed at helping beneficiaries access government and private-sector funding opportunities.
On the marketing front, Al Kindi said the directorate is working to expand opportunities for rural women to participate in national exhibitions and festivals, while also supporting the establishment of permanent sales outlets and the development of product brands.
