MUSCAT: The move is part of the authority’s efforts to strengthen digital identity verification and enhance the security of its online services.

To ensure uninterrupted access to all electronic services, users are required to download the THEQA app, verify that their smartphone supports NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, register their Civil ID details within the application, and activate their digital identity.

Once the digital identity is activated, users can log in to the Tax Authority’s e-portal by selecting the ‘Login via Digital Identity (THEQA App)’ option.

The authority said authentication can be completed using one of two methods:

  • QR Code: Scan the QR code displayed on the e-portal using the THEQA app.
  • Civil Number: Enter the Civil Number on the portal and approve the authentication request received through the THEQA app.

Upon successful authentication, users will be granted access to the e-portal.

The Tax Authority has advised taxpayers to complete the registration and activation process before August 1 to avoid any disruption in accessing its electronic services.
