MUSCAT: The Omani low-cost carrier said it operated 5,723 flights and carried 634,415 passengers between April and June across its expanding domestic and international network.
On-time performance, an internationally recognised measure of punctuality, is calculated as the percentage of flights departing within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time.
Chief Executive Officer Adrian Hamilton-Manns said the airline improved its OTP from 65 percent in the first quarter to 80.01 percent in the second quarter, despite airspace disruptions and flight operation challenges across the region.
“Our Q2 performance reflects the dedication and professionalism of our teams across the airline. This achievement demonstrates the resilience of our operation and the agility of our teams,” he said.
The CEO said the second quarter also marked key milestones in SalamAir’s expansion, with the addition of its 16th and 17th Airbus A320 aircraft, the launch of direct flights to Vienna, the resumption of services to Almaty, and preparations for the launch of flights to Medan.
He added that the airline’s 18th aircraft is scheduled to join the fleet in mid-July, supporting SalamAir’s network expansion and strengthening Oman’s connectivity for tourism, trade and investment while advancing the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
SalamAir will continue investing in its workforce, technology and operational capabilities to further improve punctuality, reliability and the passenger experience as it expands its fleet and route network.
The airline has published its on-time performance figures on a quarterly basis since the third quarter of 2024 as part of its commitment to operational transparency and accountability.
