MUSCAT – The Environment Authority said the Sur Court of Appeal convicted the defendant following a field operation carried out by its inspectors, who uncovered the wildlife offence within a protected conservation area.
In addition to the prison sentence and fine, the court ordered the confiscation of all seized items and directed the defendant to pay court costs.
According to the authority, the conviction was based on a violation of Article 33 of the Environmental Protection and Pollution Control Law. The defendant was also convicted of possessing ammunition in violation of Article 22 of the Weapons and Ammunition Law.
The Environment Authority said the ruling reflects ongoing efforts to protect Oman’s wildlife and preserve biodiversity by taking legal action against environmental offenders.
