MUSCAT — Oman is working to expand domestic red meat production and strengthen supply chains in response to rising meat prices, Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources Minister His Excellency Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi said during a session at the Shura Council.
The minister said authorities are closely monitoring increases in red meat prices and are pursuing measures aimed at boosting local production capacity to stabilise the market.
“We are following the rise in red meat prices with concern, and this requires expansion in production,” Al Habsi said on Sunday.

He added that the entry of Bashayer Meat Company through recently signed agreements is expected to strengthen economic activity and create employment opportunities in the sector.
The minister said Oman also has a programme in place to expand red meat production as part of broader efforts to improve food security and reduce reliance on imports.
