MUSCAT : Held under the slogan ‘Your Awareness for Your Safety’, the three-day campaign is organised by the National Center for Emergency Management, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Ministry of Information, and the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, in cooperation with the South Al Batinah Governor’s Office and the Ministry of Education.
The campaign, featuring a series of seminars and practical exercises, aims to strengthen community and institutional awareness of weather-related hazards, severe climatic conditions, and tsunami waves, while enhancing public understanding of the multi-hazard early warning system. It also seeks to provide comprehensive guidance on proper conduct during emergency situations.
In addition, the campaign focuses on improving community preparedness and enhancing individuals’ capabilities in responding to emergencies through training programmes and a variety of awareness activities.
The initiative targets representatives from government and private entities, civil society associations, and charitable teams through a series of programmes, including meetings, seminars, practical exercises, participation in governorate-wide events, the distribution of awareness materials, and an accompanying educational exhibition.
The Sultanate of Oman places significant emphasis on strengthening preparedness for tropical cyclones and tsunami risks as part of its national emergency management strategy.
The campaign underscores the importance of promoting a culture of community awareness to ensure effective and rapid responses during emergencies and reduce human and material losses. Activities will begin in coastal governorates before expanding to all governorates across Oman.
