MUSCAT – The Sultanate of Oman participated in meetings of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission held in the Republic of Maldives, underscoring the importance of sustainable management of tuna fisheries and stronger regional cooperation to protect marine resources.
The meetings included sessions of the Compliance Committee, Technical Committee, and Finance and Administration Committee, where participating countries discussed regulatory measures and mechanisms to enhance sustainability in the fisheries sector.
Oman reaffirmed its commitment to supporting compliance with international regulations and promoting cooperation aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of marine resources.

The Sultanate also reviewed its efforts to develop fisheries management and monitoring systems and improve the efficiency of marine resource utilisation in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and sustainable food security strategies.
