MUSCAT : His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat said the Greater Muscat Structural Plan positions Oman to combine “uniqueness, competitiveness and innovation” as the Sultanate moves to develop sustainable and future-ready cities under Royal directives.
Speaking during the launch ceremony of the Greater Muscat Structural Plan at the Experience and Sales Centre in Sultan Haitham City, His Highness described the initiative as a major step towards building a more efficient, sustainable and interconnected urban future for the capital region.
The ceremony was held under Royal Directives and attended by senior officials and stakeholders involved in the urban development project.

In a press statement, His Highness said the structural plan reflects the Supreme Vision of creating cities capable of adapting to rapid global changes while preserving Muscat’s identity and enhancing the quality of life for residents and future generations.
He said the plan seeks to organise urban growth, improve connectivity and strengthen sustainability standards across Greater Muscat, while reinforcing Oman’s position as a competitive and innovative regional hub.
His Highness also highlighted the international recognition received by the project, noting that Greater Muscat’s inclusion in the Innovation Club for Global Business Districts marked the first project from the Middle East to receive the distinction.
The recognition, he said, underscores the growing international presence of Oman’s urban planning vision and its focus on developing globally competitive cities rooted in local identity.
