MUSCAT : Figures released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information highlight that private vehicles continue to dominate the roads, accounting for 79.2 percent of the total fleet, with 1,484,718 vehicles. Commercial vehicles followed at 14.8 percent, numbering 276,887, while rental vehicles made up 2.4 percent with 44,958 units. The remaining share was distributed among taxis, government vehicles, and other categories.
In terms of vehicle colours, white remained the most popular choice among motorists, comprising 42.2 percent of all registered vehicles, or 789,850 units. Silver vehicles ranked second at 12.8 percent with 240,675 vehicles, followed by grey at 10.5 percent with 197,683 vehicles.
Engine capacity data revealed that vehicles with engines ranging between 1500 and 3000 cm³ represented the largest segment, making up 54.4 percent of the total, equivalent to 1,019,759 vehicles. This was followed by vehicles with engine capacities between 3001 and 4500 cm³, which accounted for 22.1 percent or 413,719 vehicles.

Additionally, lighter vehicles continued to dominate the fleet composition, with those weighing less than 3 tonnes accounting for 90.7 percent of all registered vehicles, totaling 1,699,988 units.
