DUBAI — The United Arab Emirates said its air defence systems were actively intercepting missile and drone attacks, with authorities confirming multiple engagements across the country.

In a statement, the Ministry of Defence said the sounds heard in various areas were the result of air defence systems intercepting ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as incoming drones launched from Iran.

“The Ministry of Defence confirms that the sounds heard in various parts of the country are due to the UAE air defence systems engaging and intercepting aerial threats,” it said.

Separately, three Indian nationals were injured in a drone strike targeting a petroleum industrial site in Fujairah, according to the Fujairah Media Office.

The injured individuals were transported to hospital, where officials described their condition as moderate. Authorities did not provide further details on the extent of damage to the facility.
