MUSCAT: The update was presented during a media meeting in the presence of CPA Chairman His Excellency Sulayem bin Ali Al Hakmani, along with officials from government entities and department directors, where the authority reviewed its performance for 2025 and outlined its plans for 2026.
His Excellency Al Hakmani said the inspections covered 244,892 commercial establishments and led to the seizure of 84,410 goods found in violation of regulations.
He added that to ensure consumer safety, approximately 30,000 vehicles and various goods were recalled during 2025.
The authority confirmed that more than 34,000 complaints were processed during the year, with 86 percent addressed within 10 days. Over 66 percent of cases were resolved amicably, resulting in the recovery of more than RO 7 million for consumers.
The most common violations included failure to display prices, absence of purchase invoices, expired products, commercial fraud, misleading advertisements, and unjustified price increases.
According to the CPA, 94.2 percent of complaints were closed during the year, while key sectors involved included electronics, restaurants, clothing, automotive services, salons, travel and tourism, building materials, and repair workshops.
The authority also reported handling more than 51,000 calls through its call centre, processing over 15,000 requests, and completing more than 6,500 field reports during 2025.
