MUSCAT : Responding to queries from parents on the requirements, the ministry stated that students must provide proof of passing one of two approved tests to obtain equivalency.
Under the first option, the SAT I, students are required to achieve a minimum total score of 800 in Mathematics and English in accordance with the International School Qualifications Equivalency Framework.
Under the second option, the Advanced Placement (AP) test, students must pass two subjects of their choice with a minimum score of 3 points in each subject.
The ministry clarified that these requirements apply to High School Diploma outcomes from private schools inside and outside Oman, but do not include American schools operating within or outside the Sultanate.
It added that starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, updated requirements outlined in the Guide for the Equivalency of International School Qualifications in the Sultanate of Oman (2025 edition) will come into effect.
