MUSCAT – The competition features six school teams and 14 teams from higher education institutions and clubs, as part of efforts to empower youth and enhance their skills in dialogue, critical thinking, and logical analysis, while promoting a culture of constructive debate.
This year’s edition focuses on themes aligned with Oman Vision 2040, covering areas such as artificial intelligence, social development, the environment, health, education, culture, industry, and mining.
Qualifying rounds are being held today, with the final rounds for both categories scheduled for tomorrow, when the championship will conclude.
The school category finalists include teams representing the education directorates of South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah, Musandam, Al Dhahirah, Dhofar, and private schools.
The second category includes 14 teams representing institutions such as Sultan Qaboos University, Al Sharqiyah University, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (Salalah, Sohar, and Ibri), the German University of Technology in Oman, the Global College of Engineering and Technology, the Oman College of Health Sciences in North Al Batinah, and the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the National University. Teams from sports clubs including Al Suwaiq, Majis, Al Shabab, and Al Rustaq are also participating.
The organisers noted that the championship initially attracted 12 school teams and 88 teams from universities, colleges, and sports clubs, which competed in preliminary rounds held throughout April before qualifying for the final stage.
