MUSCAT – Held from April 5 to 23 across Muscat, North Al Batinah, and Al Dakhiliyah, the programme focused on improving production efficiency, promoting the adoption of modern technologies, and developing export strategies to enhance the competitiveness of Omani products locally and internationally.
Faisal bin Salem Al Junaibi, Vice Manager of OCCI’s Al Wusta branch and programme director, described the initiative as a strategic step toward strengthening the industrial sector and supporting its expansion into global markets. He said the programme combined theoretical knowledge with practical application to equip participants with advanced skills in industrial operations and modern management techniques.
He added that the programme places particular emphasis on building leadership and managerial capabilities to drive improvements in product quality, productivity, and value addition to the national economy.
Trainer Wael Othman delivered sessions on supply chain management, highlighting modern tools and concepts to improve industrial efficiency. He said industrial excellence requires a continuous approach to achieving high performance across all stages, from design and procurement to manufacturing and customer service.
He also stressed the importance of adopting international standards in quality, safety, and environmental practices, alongside leveraging advanced technologies such as industrial automation, the Internet of Things, and data analytics. The programme also covered continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and root cause analysis, as well as digital transformation and export strategy development.
Engineer Naif Al Awaid, Chief Executive Officer of Kunooz Oman Holding, outlined the company’s growth journey, which began with a strategic focus on investing in Oman’s mineral resources. Since obtaining its first licence in 2007, the group has expanded into gypsum, gabbro, limestone, and logistics, with exports reaching multiple international markets.

He noted that despite challenges such as global price fluctuations and regional competition, adopting lean management practices helped the company improve efficiency, strengthen accountability, and enhance product quality and operational performance.
Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Farsi from Credit Oman highlighted the role of credit insurance in supporting exporters by mitigating commercial risks. He explained that such tools enable Omani businesses to expand confidently into local and international markets by protecting against risks such as non-payment, insolvency, and contractual default.
The programme included field visits to key industrial facilities, including Oman Flour Mills in Muscat, Al Sallan Food Industries in North Al Batinah, and the Industrial Date Complex in Al Dakhiliyah. Participants gained hands-on insights into production processes, quality management systems, and best practices in supply chain operations, storage, and distribution.
The programme forms part of a broader series of five specialised training initiatives launched by OCCI to support private sector development across key sectors, including industry, tourism, agriculture, logistics, and mining. These initiatives align with efforts to enhance the business environment, promote economic diversification, and support the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
Upcoming programmes include the ‘National Sustainable Tourism Leadership Programme’, scheduled from May 3 to 21, 2026, targeting entrepreneurs in the tourism sector with a focus on eco-tourism, sustainability, and cultural heritage. The programme will be held in Al Dakhiliyah, Musandam, and Al Wusta, aiming to empower emerging entrepreneurs and strengthen digital marketing capabilities in the tourism industry.
