MUSCAT : The Ministry urged all employers and workers to complete their applications before the deadline, stressing that no applications will be accepted after this date.
Under the grace period, fines for expired work permits that have been valid for seven years will be waived, along with financial obligations related to deportation tickets issued in 2017 and earlier.
Work permits that have been valid for ten years without any related service activity will be cancelled, with a note allowing reactivation in cases of renewal, service transfer, departure, or reporting of absconding workers.
Employers of liquidated companies may also be exempt from financial liabilities, provided that workers are repatriated or their services transferred. Additionally, fines associated with work permits can be waived if the permit is renewed for the next two years, absconding reports are cancelled, services are transferred, and return tickets are paid by the employer or the worker in cases of final departure.
The Ministry emphasised the importance of adhering to the deadline, warning that any applications submitted after 31 December 2025 will not be considered, and urged all affected parties to take prompt action to benefit from the exemptions.
