MUSCAT – His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, received in Muscat today His Excellency Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as part of the efforts to strengthen economic and investment relations between the two countries.
The discussions reviewed ways to advance economic and trade cooperation, explored promising investment opportunities, and followed up on outcomes from the Omani-Uzbek Joint Committee. The two sides also discussed collaboration in key sectors including transportation, industry, mining, and tourism, as well as the potential for knowledge exchange and the development of strategic partnerships. Emphasis was placed on fostering public-private sector collaboration to diversify income sources and enhance bilateral trade.

His Excellency Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority, also met with the Uzbek minister and his accompanying delegation. Talks focused on identifying promising investment opportunities that align with the priorities of both countries and strengthening avenues for joint initiatives.
The visiting delegation includes high-level government officials and business representatives from Uzbekistan. During the two-day visit, they will meet with senior Omani officials and business leaders in sectors of mutual interest, including logistics, banking, textiles, and oil and gas.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; His Excellency Abdul Salam Khatamov, Ambassador-designate of Uzbekistan to Oman; Engineer Nasser bin Khalifa Al Kindi, CEO of Invest in Oman; and several other officials from both sides.
During a meeting with Uzbek business leaders, His Excellency Al Yousef highlighted investment opportunities in Oman and addressed import-export challenges. A visual presentation on ‘Invest in Oman’ showcased the country’s competitive investment environment, incentives for investors, and the benefits of Oman’s investor residency program, special economic zones, and free zones.
The Uzbek delegation is also scheduled to visit the ‘Invest in Oman’ lounge to gain insights into the incentives, procedures, and services offered to investors. The visit includes an overview of the lounge’s role in providing information, streamlining investment processes, and promoting opportunities across key economic sectors.
This visit comes as part of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion’s efforts to strengthen the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a leading investment destination and explore partnership opportunities with sisterly and friendly countries to support sustainable economic growth and achieve mutual interests.
