Oman earns “Largely Compliant” rating in global tax transparency assessment

The Tax Authority proudly announces that the Sultanate of Oman has surpassed international standards in the exchange of tax information, reaffirming its position as a country committed to transparency and global standards of information exchange.

MUSCAT – The Sultanate of Oman has surpassed the final assessment of compliance with international standards for exchange of tax information on request and received a rating of “Largely Compliant”.

This significant achievement was confirmed during the recent meeting of the Peer Review and Monitoring Group (PRMG) under the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, affiliated with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), held in Bucharest.


This achievement reaffirms the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to rooting the principles of governance and transparency, strengthening international confidence in its tax system, combating tax evasion, and supporting international cooperation in the exchange of tax information.


The achievement reflects Oman’s commitment to foster a transparent financial environment and support international cooperation. The Authority continues to develop tools and procedures to ensure the highest levels of compliance with international standards.


According to the evaluation, Oman demonstrated full readiness to host and engage with the international assessment team during their on-site visit; strong compliance with OECD standards on tax information exchange upon request; and continued development of tools, regulations, and procedures that ensure ongoing adherence to international norms.


The Tax Authority emphasised its ongoing efforts to enhance legal, technical, and administrative frameworks, aiming to ensure the highest levels of compliance and governance.
