MUSCAT – While this rule has gained recent attention, travel industry professionals confirm it has been strictly enforced by UAE authorities for approximately the past four months.
Ajmal Huzain, Business Development Manager at D Fly, a travel and tourism company, clarified that while the rule has existed for some time, it has become mandatory in the recent past. “The visa application must now include a confirmed hotel reservation, a return flight ticket, along with a passport copy and photograph,” he said.
The same was confirmed by another travel agent, who pointed out that the requirement of hotel booking and flight tickets have been a part of the visa processing since before, but have become mandatory over the last few months.
Previously, applicants were only required to provide a valid passport and photo, making the current documentation standards a significant update. Failure to submit all necessary documents may result in processing delays or visa rejections.
Visa applications must be submitted via the UAE’s official platforms — including the ICP (Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security) and GDRFA (General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs) websites, or through the ICP App and Dubai Now.
In addition, visa fees have increased, with most agencies now charging approximately RO 35 for a 30-day visa and RO 45 for a 60-day visa, though prices may vary slightly by agency. There is, however, no consensus on this, as a travel agent noted that the changes have yet to be announced.
