MUSCAT : Participants of the forum affirmed that the envisaged system would contribute to national food security and keep pace with trends in sustainable development.
The forum was organised by the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate’s branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in partnership with Oman Agricultural Association and a number of private sector companies. The forum took the theme of “Establishing a safe agricultural environment to bolster food security”.

The forum included three working papers. The first addressed the national significance of food security; the second focused on the human aspect of maintaining food security as a life-sustaining factor; and the third highlighted the importance of adopting an integrated pest control management system as a means of securing the safety of agricultural products.

The forum was held under the auspices of Mohammed bin Nasser Al Maskari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of North A’Sharqiyah Governorate’s branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and attended by government officials, farmers, business owners and stakeholders in agricultural affairs.
