Muscat: Postpaid mobile subscriptions saw a remarkable growth of 26.2 percent year-on-year, climbing to 2,254,376 subscriptions. In contrast, prepaid mobile subscriptions declined by 3.8 percent, totaling 5,052,599. Among these, 3,831,898 subscriptions were attributed to operators, while resale services accounted for 1,220,701.
The report highlighted a continued shift towards mobile broadband, with active subscriptions rising to 5,760,411. Fixed Internet services also grew, recording a 2.9 percent increase to reach 581,033 subscriptions. Fixed broadband specifically rose to 579,331, maintaining the same 2.9 percent growth rate.
However, fixed-line services experienced a significant decline, dropping by 25 percent to 436,859 subscriptions. Analogue fixed-line subscriptions, which include prepaid and postpaid lines, saw the steepest decline, plunging 72 percent to 63,588.

Subscriptions to Internet Protocol (IP)-connected fixed lines, however, rose by 8.6 percent, reaching 323,012. Integrated services digital network (ISDN) channels fell slightly by 1 percent, landing at 49,577 subscriptions, while public telephone numbers plummeted by 97.7 percent to just 155.
Fixed wireless subscriptions also dropped sharply, falling by 26.6 percent to 527. Muscat Governorate remained the leader in fixed analogue telephone lines, accounting for 49.3 percent of the total, followed by Dhofar Governorate at 10.3 percent. North Al Batinah represented 2.6 percent, with the remaining governorates contributing 37.8 percent.
