Indian School Muscat celebrates athletes’ accomplishments at CBSE National Athletic Meet

MUSCAT : Indian School Muscat proudly celebrated its athletes’ accomplishments at the CBSE National Athletic Meet held in Varanasi, India, from October 6 to 10, 2024. At the meet, ISM excelled in glory, earning an impressive array of gold, silver, and bronze medals in multiple disciplines.

A special assembly was organized on October 20, 2024, at the school campus to honour the athletes and their coaches who have brought laurels to the institution. Mr. Mitul Asher, Chair, Co-Curricular, Indian School Muscat Management Committee along with Principal Mr. Rakesh Joshi, felicitated the champions and their coaches by presenting them with medals and certificates in recognition of their monumental achievements. The event radiated a palpable sense of pride among all attendees, that included the Senior Vice Principal Administration, Vice Principals, Assistant Vice Principals of various sections, Heads of Departments, teachers, and students from both the middle and senior sections.

The school’s under-14 girls’ relay team, comprising Lavishka Jiss, Hifza Aysha, Zerin K. Nishad, Jessel Ruth Pinto, and Sanvi Ganesha Sheregar, demonstrated outstanding teamwork under the guidance of Coach Mr. Victor Paul Raj. They clinched the gold medal in the 4x100m relay and achieved a remarkable hat-trick victory with consecutive gold, silver, and gold medals. The triumph is one that the Indian schools in the Middle East can aspire to, as the team has qualified for the prestigious Schools Games Federation of India (SGFI) competition, set to be held in Ranchi, Jharkhand, in December 2024. ISM celebrates the victory of the girls’ team crowned with the National Championship Trophy in the under-14 category.

In the under-17 boys’ 4×100 m relay, the team comprising Naethan Aston Martin, Uday Veer Singh, Yahya Kabeer, Sarthak Nangare, and Harshil Shetty, primed for glory, secured a silver medal, elevating the school’s prestige. Additionally, the under-17 boys’ 4×400 metre relay team, also drilled by Mr. Johns K Abraham and featuring Naethan Aston Martin, Uday Veer Singh, Yahya Kabeer, Sarthak Nangare, and Dhaya Sankar, earned a silver medal as well, ultimately being crowned the National Champions in their category.

Furthermore, the under-17 girls’ team, mentored by Ms. Ramya Ramachandran, secured a bronze medal in the 4×100 metre relay with Shandra Jiss, Namia Najeeb, Sree Nidhuna Nair, Sahana Jeelany, and Manha Mariyam, the team members. These promising athletes demonstrated remarkable talent and resilience, triumphing amid intense competition and their commitment and athleticism were awe inspiring and worthy of emulation. The hard work has paid off, with their victory serving as a testament to their championship character.

As a candid exemplar in empowering its students to excel in all realms, ISM persists in nurturing the talents and encourages a healthy, active lifestyle among its students. The award ceremony not only commemorated the athletic achievements but also epitomized the strong sense of community within Indian School Muscat.
