MUSCAT: On Monday, the 18th of April, the Shura Council will host Her Excellency Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development. The minister will be delivering the ministry’s statement during the council’s twelfth regular session of the third annual session (2021/ 2022) from the ninth period (2019-2023).
This was stated by His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, who indicated that the Minister of Social Development’s statement is the third one that the Council is discussing during the current annual session, according to the programme specified for the ministerial statements at the beginning of the term.
This is based on Article 69 of the Law of the Council of Oman, which states, “At the beginning of each annual session, the Shura Council decides the program of ministerial statements and their discussion themes that will be presented during the session. Based on a joint proposal from the Council’s office and the heads of its permanent committees, the Chairman of the Council shall inform the government of this program, specifying what each statement should include from the elements and themes according to the topic or sector to which the statement is concerned.”

Al-Nadabi explained that the council will discuss Her Excellency the Minister of Social Development’s statement in four main axes.
The first axis will include the topic of the social protection system, according to the programs of the tenth five-year plan. The second axis will deal with services provided to people with disabilities, and the third axis will discuss the family and community development. The last axis will address the issue of civil work and associations, and the efforts of the Ministry in organising charitable and civil work.
