MUSCAT: Muscat is all set to sponsor and conduct a FIDE Rated International Chess tournament from 26 to 29 January 2022 at the Mall of Oman Bausher. The tournament is being held under the auspices of the Oman Chess Committee led by Mr. Ahmed Darwish Al Bulushi the Chairman. Mr. Musallam Salim Al Wadhahi will be the Chief Arbiter. A passionate Chess lover and trainer from India, Mr. V.U. Divakar will be the Tournament Director.

The Managing Director of Design Group, the sponsor of the first of its kind event in Oman, released the brochure while sharing the above details. Several players from Oman, Philippines, India, Pakistan, Jamaica, UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar are expected to participate. 15 cash prizes and age category medals will be distributed.
Omani players are allocated age category prizes. Mr. Damodar opined that Omani children are now getting quite competitive – thanks to the unceasing efforts being put in by the OMAN Chess Committee. It is to this end that the tournament is being sponsored by the Design Group. This is going to be the beginning of a great chapter of cooperation between Oman and the expat community in the field of chess.
