Deep blue and never-ending, the truth will uncover many wonders. Wonders we could barely imagine. He was always curious as to what lay beyond what he saw. It’s only natural, raised in a home not so far off the shore. Growing up, he seemed to get more and more curious as to what lied further.

Nicholas Lockhart. A 21-year-old man with a charming personality and optimistic views. He had always dreamt of setting out into the sea. This dream of his was finally coming true. It all seemed to be going well. He did safety checks, said farewell to his mother whom he loved very dearly, and set sail out into the sea. He didn’t feel anxious at all. But had no idea of the adventure that lay ahead.

Lockhart was sound asleep when he heard loud banging at the sides of his ship. He scrambled awake and shortly after, he realised him and his crew were caught amidst a storm. The storm was violent, unlike any storm his crew had ever faced. The ship was easily torn apart and they were shipwrecked in no time. Lockhart and the ship crew were left stranded at sea in the middle of the night. Darkness everywhere, no hope of surviving, nowhere to look and nowhere to seek help. The darkness was suffocating… or was it the fact that he was drowning?

Suddenly he sensed light. To his relief he was alive. He was severely dehydrated which seemed to have caused him memory loss. The last thing he remembered was the suffocating darkness that surrounded him. Lockhart didn’t quite recognize where he was, he looked around desperately trying to recall the events of the previous night but it didn’t seem to click. He decided it was best to focus on the current problems, like figuring out why he woke up in a strange-looking tent in an unfamiliar place.

He paced around the tent debating whether he should go out and look for whoever got him here or not. It seemed like the best option so he went out to look. To his surprise, he found multiple people. They seemed friendly but Lockhart realised they may have ulterior motives. A little boy that seemed to be no more than 8 years old came up to him and dragged him off. He was greeted by more similar looking people. Lockhart had never quite seen people dressed like but was strangely fascinated by it.

He was taken to a man sitting on a beautiful throne-like chair. The man looked like the chief of a tribe. ‘Of course! It all makes sense now’ He thought. That explained why he couldn’t understand or interpret the environment or anything going on around him. Lockhart introduced himself and thanked everyone. He asked how he got there but soon realised that the people couldn’t understand what he was talking about. The obvious language barrier restricted them from communicating. The women of the tribe were gesturing him to eat along with everyone else. He felt as if he was welcomed there and for the time being all his worries went away.

During lunch, His head started throbbing. A few events from last night started coming to his mind. He was attacked by men. They were pirates! Eye patches, swords, it all lined up. He also remembered seeing a few of the archers from the tribe. They were the ones that fended off the pirates. All of this was hard to comprehend for Nicholas, so he chose to ignore this for some time and instead tried to figure out a way to get off of this island.

He would have to build a ship and then continue his journey alone. At this point, reality sunk in. Lockhart didn’t know why all of this happened and why he was the only person to survive the shipwreck.

He tried explaining to the Chief using drawings. He said he wanted to build a ship and head off. The chief understood and gave him his blessings. Lockhart got to building straight away and with help from other tribesmen it was ready in a few months. Some helpful women of the tribe packed things for him, necessities like food, water, clothes, etc.

He thanked everyone for the last time and embarked on his journey. Another journey, another adventure. With no idea of what lay ahead, Lockhart once again headed out into the sea. The mysterious deep blue, seemingly never-ending body of water that was the ocean.
