MUSCAT: The total number of vehicles registered in January 2020 reached 1.55mn, according to a recent statistic released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). This is a 3.4 per cent rise compared to the same period last year.
Private vehicles topped the list of vehicles registered, with 1.20mn vehicles, followed by 246,915 commercial vehicles and 31,385 taxis.
Meanwhile there was a drop in the number of taxis, government vehicles, and motorbikes registered by 11.2 per cent, 0.8 per cent and 0.3 per cent respectively.
