MUSCAT: In the backdrop of the coronavirus outbreak in China and two reported cases in Oman, health minister Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi said that there is no need for the public to panic over the issue, but advised people to take precautionary measures.
More than 250 people who came from coronavirus-hit countries have been quarantined on suspicion but only two women were tested positive of coronavirus, according to Minister of Health.
Speaking to national television Oman TV Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi has clarified that the two Omani women who were tested positive of the virus known as Covid-19 have only mild symptoms which “does not require them to be hospitalised.”

“This is not a situation to panic. The two citizens are quarantined at their home and are under observation. Let’s not exaggerate it,” he said.
The Minister also informed that more than 250 “suspected cases” of coronavirus have been quarantined. “Most of these cases came from coronavirus hit countries,” he added.
“The ministry tracked 35 people who were close to the two people with symptoms of coronavirus, whether they were with them on the plane or visited them, and we are in contact with them,” the Minister added.
