Muscat: As the people of Oman both locals and expatriates bid tearful adieu to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Kochi, the metropolitan city in the South Indian state of Kerala mourned the demise of the leader who was revered globally.

As a mark of respect, they also erected huge hoardings with eulogies written on it and kept across the popular metro city. The hoardings were set up Gracy Babu Jacob who is the counsellor of Kochi Municipal Cooperation.

“We, the Malayali community, of Sultanate of Oman, express our heartfelt condolences on the demise of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. He was truly the founder and guiding spirit of modern Oman. Oman’s achievement from obscurity to modernity under His Majesty’s rule will be written in indelible prints,” wrote Gracy on her Facebook page.

“The Malayali community is indebted to the benevolence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for having given thousands of keralites the opportunities to live, work and worship in Oman,” she said.

“His Majesty Sultan Qaboos will remain as an iconic figure in the hearts of millions of Malayalis,” Gracy added.
